Position LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ PROFESSOR - GIS LAND USE PLANNING (3)
Description

We are seeking dynamic and knowledgeable GIS Lecturers
with expertise in Agricultural Land Use Planning to join our academic
team.





Duties
  • Teach Undergraduate
    and Postgraduate modules in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Agricultural
    Land Use Planning, and related fields;
  • Develop and update
    course materials, practical exercises, and assessment tools;
  • Supervise student
    research projects and dissertations;
  • Initiate and
    participate in applied research projects in agricultural land use, spatial
    analysis, and sustainable resource management;
  • Engage in community
    outreach and consultancy services relevant to GIS and agriculture;
  • Contribute to the achievement of the
    University mandate through teaching, research, community engagement, innovation
    and industrialization.







Qualifications And Experience
  •  Applicants should hold a Master of Science Degree
    in Geographic Information Systems/Geo-informatics with specializations in
    either Agricultural Land Use Planning or Urban
    Planning or related fields;
  • A BSc Honors degree in Geographical Information
    Systems or a related field passed with at least an upper-second degree class (2.1) is mandatory;
  • A
    PhD in Geographic Information Systems or a related field would be an added
    advantage;
  • A minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience preferably in a university or tertiary setting.


Skills

      Post 1: Two (2) GIS Lecturers



  • Excellent
    communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to integrate GIS with agricultural applications such as
    geospatial data collection and analysis for irrigated;
  • Dry land cropping and
    environmental/ecological planning, monitoring and evaluations;
  • Key strengths
    include abilities to map and document resources such as land, water,
    vegetation, and infrastructure with precision, allowing for a better understanding
    of the land's potential and limitations before implementing projects.




       Post 2: One (1) GIS Lecturer:



  • Excellent
    communication and presentation skills;
  • Critical skills include ability to apply GIS techniques in the transformation
    of urban planning and infrastructure development by enabling data-driven
    analysis, spatial visualization, and optimized resource allocation;
  • Skills for
    the exploration of GIS’s critical role in urban planning, covering key
    application areas such as land use and zoning, transportation, environmental
    management, utility planning, and disaster preparedness are a necessity.
