The University invites applications from suitably qualified and
experienced candidates to fill the above vacant position in the
Chemistry Department focusing on Analytical Chemistry.
Duties
Teach at least four (4) of the following courses: General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and/or Environmental Management at all levels(The Department reserves the right to allocate courses);
Design, revise and upgrade Chemistry courses - define course objectives and evaluate/validate outcomes;
Establish an independently-funded research program aligned with Department and Faculty strategy;
Supervise Postgraduate students in their research;
Contribute to the University’s mandate through teaching, research, community service, innovation, and industrialization;
Undertake administrative functions within the Department and Faculty of Science (e.g. Committee participation, marketing/recruitment representation).
Qualifications And Experience
· A PhD in Analytical Chemistry;
A
Holder of Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry passed with at least a Merit may
also be considered;
A
current research record in the field, as evidenced by publications in
accredited peer reviewed journals and conference contributions;
Ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students;
Ability to raise funds to support own research;
At
least two (2) years’ teaching experience in a tertiary institution or
professional experience in the relevant field;
Proven
record of publications and ability to mobilise funds would be an added
advantage;
The
curriculum vitae should include a detailed list of publications, dates
published, name(s) of journal and name(s) of co-authors if any.
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional interaction with students, colleagues and stakeholders;
Course design and curriculum development (defining objectives, updating/upgrading courses);
