Position LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR: PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY (2)
Description

The University invites applications from suitably qualified and
experienced candidates to fill the above vacant position in the
Chemistry Department focusing on Physical Chemistry.

Duties

  • Teach Physical Chemistry courses at Undergraduate and at least four (4) of the
    following MSc Physical Chemistry modules: Electrochemistry, Advanced
    Spectroscopy, Statistical Thermodynamics, Physical Chemistry of
    Molecular Aggregates, Computational Chemistry, Catalysis and Nanochemistry)
    . The Department reserves the right to allocate courses;

  • Design, revise and upgrade Chemistry
    courses- define course objectives and evaluate/validate outcomes;

  • Establish an independently-funded research
    program aligned with Department and Faculty strategy;

  • Supervise Postgraduate students in their
    research;

  • Undertake administrative responsibilities
    within the Department and Faculty (e.g., Committee participation, Marketing/recruitment representation).




Qualifications And Experience
  •  A PhD in Physical Chemistry;
  • A Holder of Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry passed with at least
    a Merit may
    also be considered;
  • A current research record in the
    field, as evidenced by publications in accredited peer reviewed journals and
    conference contributions;
  • Ability to attract and supervise Postgraduate students;
  • Ability to raise funds to support
    own research;
  • At least two (2) years’ teaching
    experience in a tertiary institution or professional experience in the relevant
    field;
  • Proven record of publications and
    ability to mobilise funds would be an added advantage;
  • The curriculum vitae should
    include a detailed list of publications, dates published, name(s) of journal
    and name(s) of co-authors if any.




Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for
    professional interaction with students, colleagues, and stakeholders;

  • Course design and curriculum development
    (defining objectives, updating/upgrading courses);
  • Research leadership and grant/funding
    development.
  • Ability to maintain an active research program.
