The BUSE Farm Trust invites applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic students undertaking industrial attachment in General Agriculture (both crops and livestock). The successful candidates will join the BUSE Farm Team working both in the crops and livestock sections.

The attachment will  provide an excellent opportunity for hands-on practical experience in agriculture.  These hands on tasks bridge classroom theory with real world farming operations.

The successful candidates will be expected to do the following

Crop production and Agronomy

• Assist with land preparation, planting, spacing and seed germination tests
• Monitor crops for weeds, pests and diseases and help apply fertilizers or crop protection chemicals
• Manage irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler or furrow) and record water usage and whether data
• Participate in harvesting, sorting, grading and packaging produce

Livestock and animal management

• Daily feeding, watering and general health monitoring of livestock(cattle, poultry, pigs, or goats)
• Assist farm staff with cleaning pens, milking, vaccinations, deworming and tagging animals.
• keep accurate records of birth rates, mortality, feed consumption and medical treatment.
• Takes instructions from the supervisor on a daily basis

Applicants should be studying towards a Bachelors' Degree, Diploma, Certificate or any agricultural related field.
