Position INTERNAL AUDIT GRADUATE TRAINEE(S) (5)
Description

The Graduate Trainee Internal Auditor is an entry-level training position designed to provide recent graduates with practical exposure to internal auditing processes within the University. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Assistant Internal Auditor while undergoing structured on-the-job training in auditing, compliance, and risk management.



Duties
The successful candidates will report to the Assistant Internal Auditor and will be responsible for the following:


  • Assist in performing basic audit procedures.


  • Support the preparation of audit working papers in accordance with audit methodologies.


  • Participate in routine checks of financial records, transactions, and supporting documents.


  • Assist in verifying assets, inventory counts, and other physical inspection exercises.


  • Support compliance checks to ensure adherence to University policies and procedures.


  • Assist in gathering audit evidence and documentation for audit assignments.


  • Participate in fieldwork activities as part of audit teams.


  • Assist in identifying basic control gaps and reporting findings to senior audit staff.


  • Support the preparation of draft notes and summaries from audit engagements.


  • Assist in following up on audit queries raised during assignments.


  • Maintain proper filing and organisation of audit documents.


  • Undertake training and development activities as required by the Internal Audit function.


  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Assistant Internal Auditor, Internal Audit Officer, or Chief Internal Auditor.

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting and auditing principles.


  • Strong numerical and analytical aptitude.


  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.


  • Good written and verbal communication skills.


  • Willingness to learn and develop within the internal audit profession.


  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.


  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.


  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


  • Teamwork and good interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines in a structured environment.
