Position SENIOR ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGIST - REPRODUCTION AND EMBRYO TRANSFER (1 POST) (1)
Description

Duties

·        
Applying
cutting-edge molecular biology;



·        
Reproductive
techniques to improve livestock traits;



·        
Specifically
focusing on Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Biotechnology;



·        
Supervising
all activities in the Animal Biotechnology unit including personnel;



·        
Semen
handling, Artificial Insemination, conduct oocyte searching, invitro production
(IVP); and



·        
Embryo
sexing in a laboratory setting as well as perform embryo collection, evaluation
and cryopreservation and transfer (IVF/ET) in goats.




Qualifications And Experience

 



         ·      A Bachelor’s degree in Animal
Science; Reproductive Biotechnology;



  •      Animal Breeding and Biotechnology; Biology, or a
    related field;
  •        A Masters degree in any of the
    above disciplines would be an added advantage;
  •       Proven experience in artificial
    insemination and embryo transfer techniques (Bovine/Small Ruminants) is
    important as well as proficiency in semen evaluation, cryopreservation and handling
    laboratory equipment;
  •      Strong understanding of reproductive
    physiology, genetics and embryo handling protocols is necessary.

Skills

·        
Advanced knowledge in animal biotechnology, including
genetic engineering, molecular biology and reproductive technologies;





·        
Proficiency in techniques such as cloning, embryo transfer and cell culture;





·        
Strong understanding of genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics;





·        
Experience in livestock improvement, disease resistance and
vaccine development;





·        
Strong data analysis and
interpretation skills using statistical and bioinformatics tools.
